Build a bridge and watch it break. Construct skyscrapers and towers and watch them topple! Investigate the art and science behind constructing buildings, structures, and vehicles of the modern world. Build a vehicle that survive crashes. Test your structures to see how much stress and strain they can handle. It’s controlled destruction!
Design bridges, structures that survive hurricanes and modern vehicles. As a team, campers will develop creative solutions, make architectural drawings, construct and finally test their model. We will explore concepts like stress, strain, Hooke's law, compression, tension and stability. Through discussion and documentation, we will revise and rebuild until we’ve made our product the best it can be. Put on your creativity cap for this camp because no idea is too big or too small!
Gears that spin, gadgets that twirl- simple machines make a wonderful world! Become an engineer, maker, and tinkerer by using simple machines to design and develop unique inventions. Collaborate with and challenge your classmates to manipulate and build marvelous mechanisms. Learn principles of moment, momentum and energy!
In this creative camp, our young scientists will be given a different challenge each day as they work together to build cool contraptions. We will explore concepts of momentum, friction, gravity, and gear ratios as we design, build and test our products. Apply the concepts of physics and chemistry to your creativity. Use potential, chemical or electrical energy to power your invention.
